RE Information and Promotion Services
CBRED Component to address the information barriers.
This project component addresss the information barriers that hinder the development and implementation of RE system (electricity and non-electricity) projects in the country. These include technical information that are required in the conceptualization/design of potential RE projects (e.g., wind speeds and other meteorological data, volume of biomass resources), and market information that are necessary in evaluating the economic/financial viability of NRE projects (e.g., electricity prices, fuel prices, electricity demand). The Philippines is an archipelagic country and because of the diverse geography as well as varying regional economic conditions, NRE information availability, accessibility and affordability are big issues that affect RE development in these different areas in the country. Moreover, different target groups would require different kinds of information related to RE.
Objectives
The objectives of this components are
- to address the information barriers that hinder the development and implementation of RE projects;
- to facilitate the generation of useful databases and the expedient exchange of information;
- to update and augment existing resource data for use by RE developers/investors;
- to consolidate databases and establish an RE Database keepers committee;
- to formulate and implement a public awareness program to support the RE program;
- to provide greater end-user assurance on the quality of engineering services being provided by local firms and service companies; and
- to establish an environmental rating scheme that would encourage the use of RE in industries
Activities
The activities under this components are:
- Conduct of RE Resource Inventory;
- Development of a National RE Database;
- Integrated RE Information Exchange Service;
- RE Website Development;
- Consolidation of RE Databases;
- RE Advocacy and Promotion;
- RE Engineering Service Industry development; and
- Green Energy rating Program
Expected Outputs
- An updated NRE resource inventory accessible to project developers and other interested clients is established
- An integrated national NRE database is established and “Database Keepers” are identified
- An integrated information exchange system is developed with the MSC as the host institution
- A central NRE website is designed and installed at MSC
- A consolidated NRE database management system is designed and implemented.
- An outreach and promotion program for NRE is developed and implemented
- A technical support and registration program for the development of the local NRE engineering service industry is developed
- A green energy rating program is developed and implemented
